Elisabeth Arbuckle is an Ottawa based artist and teacher. She is married with two children.

I enjoy working with a wide variety of media. I illustrate an idea or theme often with different materials and resources at hand; I find that teaching and working with children, seeing their enthusiasm for new experiences stimulates my interest in media as diverse as computers and clay.

Recently in my work I have been exploring the interconnection of things in nature. Lives and circumstances, each single aspect affected by another. I like the challenge this presents in painting, creating interconnecting imagery that reflects interconnecting elements and influences.

I continue to work with ideas from nature. I have been making larger scale images of the shells and pebbles picked up along a beach or lakeshore, treasures found in pockets after a summer vacation, that capture a moment in time, minutiae that is a part of the oceans and tides, the ebb and flow of life.

I return time and again to figure work, mainly woman, a theme I continue to explore. Woman, generally alone, sometimes content, sometimes waiting, sometimes wanting; illustrating a sense of interconnections with the environment, the seasons, the elements and with time.
